"I AM A BABY! I WAS JUST BORN!!"
A newborn bearowl. After hatching directly on Stirfry's head, he imprints on him and assumes that the kenku is his mother. Flipcup can only be understood using Speak With Animals, but his short life has left him with nothing helpful to say. He is very aware of sex and frequently screams about it. He initially lives in Stirfry's pocket. Throughout his time spent with the party, Cordelia teaches him about masturbation, religion, Hell, and family.
Flipcup is omnivorous but mainly craves meat/protein. Stirfry occasionally remembers to feed him table scraps and acorns, causing him to remain malnourished until he is introduced to nachos and has an immediate, painful growth spurt from finally receiving real nourishment.
During the time-skip preceding A Stranger Comes To Town, Flipcup escapes and remains unseen for nearly a month. The party later learns from Rainn Anatomies that Flipcup is not only alive, but thriving in The Trashlands. He is known as "The Devil of the Desert" by the locals and considered a terror who will eat anything around him. He grows large enough to carry and kill human cultists, picking them off as food after the party escapes The Children of the Atmosphere. The cult had been sacrificing people to him as a means of pacifying him while also executing non-believers. He violently confronts the group about their treatment of him until he's finally talked down by Cordelia. He rejoins the party under the provision that he will remain as wild and free as he wishes. He flies off into the night, blasting Stirfry with a wad of piss and shit. He continues to vaguely follow the party's trail through The Trashlands, stopping by or aiding them when he sees fit.
Flipcup continues following the party -albeit from a distance- to Ruleshaven. When the city is destroyed, he flees and strikes out on his own once again. He is captured by Thomas Mitchell and the party finds him as part of his circus where he has been painted blue and forced to sing for him. The party frees him and he continues to tag along, coming and going as he pleases.
Trivia[]
- Although Stirfry cannot understand Flipcup he is still convinced that their love is mutual. Cordelia has lovingly (but incorrectly) confirmed this for him.
- When Stirfry first found him, he considered the names Marcus Fry and Trimno before settling on Flipcup.
- Cordelia, Bellow, and later Albee are the only members of the party consistently capable of understanding him. Speak With Animals makes their voices come across as chirping and squawking to the rest of the party while they speak to him.
- After his growth spurt, Flipcup is believed to be the largest bearowl in existence. Branson has confirmed that this is due to him killing and eating many humans. "Eating people is extremely good for you."
- Flipcup twice demonstrates an ability to speak in extremely limited Common. Initially he is only able to say "WAZZUP!?" By the time the group meets back up with him in We Get To Have You, he is able to sing an entire song in Common.
